If you’ve been following me over on Instagram, you would’ve seen my utter excitement over finally laying hands on this foundation. It’s the Kat Von D Lock It foundation. Quick details, this costs £27 from Debenhams*, you get the standard 30ml and there are 30 shades available.
As mentioned, there are 30 shades available. There seems to be an even split between cool and warm colours. The colour selection is utterly wonderful! I actually got a great colour match with Cool 44, even more impressive is the fact that there were lighter shades! So I wasn’t the lightest shade!!! Sorry, this is a bit exciting, I’m sure other pale girls will feel my joy over this. There’s also a great selection of darker shades, so everyone is catered to.
Consistency & Wear time
It’s actually quite thick in consistency, minimal running about the face or back of the hand. It’s really creamy. Thankfully it doesn’t feel heavy on the face and doesn’t cause any irritation. It tends to wear for about 10hours before really breaking down – I have normal skin, with a slightly oily t-zone and dry patches. It tends to break down around my nose and mouth, where my skin moves the most and where my pores are their largest. Thankfully, it touches up easily. No weird balling, or separating.
As you can see from the photo below it’s a full coverage foundation. You can use a damp beauty sponge to lighten the coverage a bit if you like. If like me you have random dry patches – hooray for topical eczema – it will cover it, without clinging to it. However, you can expect texture, which is to be expected to be fair. I’ve been using the foundation to layer up and give that bit of extra coverage where I need it, generally using a damp sponge. Beware of cake face. In the video below you’ll see I was a bit heavy handed, only a pump and a bit required really. Start with less and you can always add a wee bit more.
It’s love. As long as you use a light hand, it’s definitely one of my current favourite foundations. If you want to see how it’s applied you can check out the video – I applied half of my face with a buffing brush and half with a damp sponge.
