January Favourites 2017

January Favourites 2017

We’re one month into 2017, it’s been a bit of an interesting month, to say the least.  That however, is a post for another day.  Today is all about the favourite things.  Shall we start with my favourite skincare?

I’ve been using The Better Skin Formula consistently for a few weeks and my skin is very happy about this.  I’ve had a few people even ask what skincare I’m using, as it looks more radiant.  This skincare is bespoke to your skin’s particular needs.  I have a cleansing base with shea, olive and vitamin E.  I blend one of 4 oils with this base, depending on what my skin needs at the time.

Oil 1 – Contains Hemp oil, Tea Tree & Lemon Eucalyptus, to Restore/Heal/Immunity
Oil 2 – Contains Sunflower & Palmarosa, to Nourish/Balance
Oil 3 – Contains Flax Oil, Lemon & Mandarin, to Energise/Brighten/Smooth
Oil 4 – Contains Camellia, Chamomile & Spearmint, to Anti-Oxidant/Anti-inflammatory/Cool

I sometimes use a spritz of rose water or various toners after cleansing and then moisturise with the balm moisturiser – this was created after my last facial with Claire.  I have raved about these facials before, you can read all about them in this post.  You can do online consultations with Claire to get a bespoke skincare line for you too, which is rather wonderful!  The joys of technology.

Another skincare product is the Dr Paw Paw Original Multipurpose Balm*.  This stuff has saved my lips from the painfully cold weather.  I’ve been slathering it on to add that barrier when I go out into the cold and it seems to be working a treat.  Definitely one worth picking up, particularly if you’re prone to dry, cracked lips – which I am.  Love it.

January Skincare 2017

For eyes, I’ve fallen in love with my Isadora Eye Color Bar Palette* in Nude Essentials.  This palette is perfect for both simple eyelooks and if you want to smoke it up, you also have that option.  It’s just a great wee palette.  The eyeshadows blend well, they have great pigmentation and they don’t melt off your eyelids after a few hours.  Win!

Now I’m not normally one for false lashes, but I’ve taken to wearing them when I do a more full on look – for example, my Christmas Party Look or the Christmas Classic.  They just add a bit more of punch to the look.  The lashes from Nouveau Lashes, in particular, the Natural style 3, are really comfortable to wear.  I do have to trim a small bit from the inner part of the band – that is more to do with my eyelids than anything else.  They stay well, they look fabulous and the band is very slim.  Definitely worth checking out.

I’ve two lip products this month which have been excellent rediscoveries.  First, we have a rather wonderful NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Spice Cake.  This is a dark, rich pink with purple tones.  I love it!  You can wear it with a full on application, or you can blot it down a bit like I have, to end up with a dark pink on the lips.  It’s comfortable to wear and lasts a long time.  The second lip product, is one from eyes lips face in Ripe Rose (similar to Blushing Brown).  It’s just a great everyday colour for an overall nude-ish look.

January Favourites Swatches

My last beauty favourite has to be the Michael Buble perfume By Invitation. I won this in a competition – which I didn’t even know I’d entered! Yep.  It is a wonderful scent.  It starts as quite sweet, but develops on the skin to something a bit less sweet – yes I am an expert at describing scents.  I think it’s the wild Jasmine and Spicy Peony that help prevent it from being overly sweet and sicky.  It has a base of sandalwood – musks, which again appeal to me.  On the skin it is wonderful.  Definitely one to investigate.

Life / Travel

My last favourite is a life/travel favourite.  I went off to Somerset for a few days and I thoroughly fell in love with the place.  Beautiful countryside, remote locations, just a wonderful trip away.  I shared some of my time there in this vlog post.  It’s somewhere I would love to visit again soon.

So that’s it for my favourites.  What have been your favourites for the month of January?  Have you been rediscovering any products? Or maybe you were given some new things over Christmas?  Did you manage to get away for a few days?  I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
