Last week I was invited along to a beauty evening with Clinique, which was much needed if I’m honest! I’d been having an “interesting” week, drowning in work and having construction work going on…let’s just say it was a very welcome break. It was a small gathering, made smaller by the fact that a few of the bloggers were unable to attend due to illness. So the four of us || Holly – Closing Winter, Joanne – Opposable Thumbs and Georgia – Love On The Wall || got to play with all of the products.
Katy was the lovely Clinique rep that organised the evening and she colour-matched us all and discussed the various foundations available and types of coverage they provide. I managed to take a picture of Holly getting colour-matched, you can see the 3 shades on her cheek, can you guess which one she went with? You can check out her blog for her post all about it -her post goes live on Friday. I was colour-matched with the Beyond Perfection Foundation + Concealer* in Breeze, which is the lightest shade and it was a pretty good match. I did like the coverage and it didn’t feel heavy on my skin. I’m wearing it at the end of the latest weekly vlog – When Life Gets Busy, so you can check that out there. You can also see some of the carnage we left at the end of the evening. The foundation did look a wee bit too yellow for me on the video, so I’m still deciding if it’s right for me.
We had lots of products to play with which was fun! I applied the foundation myself – the MUA in me is a wee bit funny about other people doing my makeup. Once I’d applied my foundation, I topped up with a touch of rose blush, which I thoroughly enjoyed and I applied some Pop Lip colour* in Kiss, which I blotted out to mute it slightly. I loved this colour on and I need to investigate it again in future. I entirely forgot to take pictures of my finished face, instead focusing on taking pictures of Holly’s face. Did I mention I was a bit ill that day…that is my excuse for lack of face pictures.
As the evening wrapped up we got our hands on the shiny new Crayola for Clinique Chubby Sticks. We all had a moment here. I applied the Fuzzy Wuzzy on my hand and we all had a little oooooh in unison, it’s just so pretty! These are available in store from the 4th February. Quite a few of them are existing colours that have been renamed, but there are a few limited editions, like Fuzzy Wuzzy which is the browny-nude shade.
As you can see there is a mix of sheer and intense colours. I may have fallen in love with Red Violet. Which is that dark wine-ish pink. So pretty.
We were given a goody bag as we were leaving. There were two choices and I actually went with the more nude option – I know, breaking the norm for me! I just fancied a change. As you can see we were given some skin care trial sizes. Win. My goody bag contained a Pep-Start 2-in-1 exfoliating cleanser*, a Dramatically Different moisturising lotion* and a Pep-Start eye cream*. For makeup, I have a sample of the Superbalanced foundation* in 01, Pop Liquid Matte lip colour & primer* in Cake Pop, a cute palette with an All About Shadows Duo* in 06 Daybreak and a Powder blush* in Sunset Glow and a High Impact Mascara*.
Not half bad at all! I will definitely be playing with the makeup, would you like to see a review on them? It might take me longer to test out the skin care as I’m in the middle of testing out other skin care. All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend a few hours.
